So I darkened Sweeney up a bit, fixed some minor problems and mapped out the hair and attire. Still need to smooth out some of shading on Sweeney, although it is a little bi

7/30/08 9 CommentsCriss Angel based character
So me and my friend are making a story based off of his idea from a couple years ago. In the plot the setting is based a little further into our (the world as we know it today) future. Guns have been outlawed and most destroyed. Enter the darkness...

Some people think I'm weird, others think I'm normal. To be honest I could careless what most think of me. Be yourself; who you feel is the person you're meant to be. As long as I do that does it really matter? I'm Perfectly Insane. Perfectly Abnormal. Perfectly just me.Nothing more nothing less, you take what you will & won't out of the words I speak. I'm an artist at heart, a hopeless romantic. I see certain things and take life experiences a little bit differently than most people. Not just looking at what the situation is but what it represents, what it really means.I'm a helper and console to many; if you will have me that is. No matter how hard you try you can't save someone from themselves, but rather give them the tools and showing the the way to successfully better their own lives.
Here's my composite drawing that I've been working on for my Figure Study class this semster. The overall goal being to just take a couple pictures and put them together in one mass picture hints a composite (in case some knew not what the term meant). As you can see I arranged several versions of Jack Skellington, several characters from the upcoming title "9", Sweeney Todd, a sketch of a nude female on the right side of the page and for the center piece a center fold of a model who's name happens to escape me at the moment ( one of my fellow classmates let me use that picture when I figured it would work better than the one I originally chose).
This piece is drawn on 18x24 Stonehenge paper.
My materials used thus far are just regular Stadler H and B pencils, mostly 2H for the outlines, 2B for basic shades and 8B for the really dark areas. Everything else you see was worked using Graphite Dust, which as you can see can be messy but really helps in detailing when you like to shade like me (cuts down my overall time by around 50%). What I mean to say is I went over the basic details with a 2B just mapping the differential tones in just to know where they are and went back over everything with the graphite dust. I also touched up a couple highlights with white charcoal around the darkest places. As my instructor has taught me as well, not giving your drawings a solid hard line all the way around gives your figure(s) much more form which I can see now.
I've spent about 4-5 hours on this piece so far and I'm no where near completion yet, but I have about 2 weeks left on this so wish me luck.
The thing I can think of at the moment is to darken up the background once I flush out the details in the center pieces.
This picture was taken with my Canon Powershot, because obviously this picture was much larger than my scanner.
The final for Drawing II. In this were were to take a fear or in my case a personal fear and illustrate it as best you could without it being too literal. As you could see my fear was obviously the Kraken or more so a fear of the unknown. For me this creature has always been a reoccurring nightmare in my dreams ever since I was a little kid. (In said dream I'm in the middle of the ocean and go underwater after seeing a glowing object underneath it's surface and dive under to investigate, however upon doing so I come face to face with the silhouette of the Kraken and upon seeing it's eye I have a heart attack and drown from fright). For me they represent my true ability, my full potential. Such a massive creature of unmeasurable strength and there's no real sign that they even exist although there are traces of their existence left in Giant and Colossal Squid. All and all this took me about three 3 hour class periods to finish plus or minus a couple hours I spent working on it at home. The soul reason I cut it out was because it looked far too plain on paper. Sure I could've shaded in the background to be much darker and imitate the deepest depths of the ocean, but it just didn't feel right in this case.
I apologize for the picture being cut off on the edges, I wanted to get as much of the details as possible and this was the only I could do it without it looking too shitty.
This assignment was all about Tension and was also for Drawing II. Here we were to take two objects and put them together to create the idea of tension. For mine I figured pain would easily illustrate this point and in all honesty I got this idea from the Korean film Old Boy. The act of seeing someone being cutting their own tongue out is tension enough left alone actually watching it get sliced in half. Honestly I pretty much half-assed this assignment a little bit. My instructor was on my back the entire length of the assignment about printing out the reference photos rather than draw them from my computer, in hensite she was right but at the time with it's due date coming to a close and me already having a lot of it finished I rushed to put in the things she mentioned and finish it in time for critic. There is still a lot more I'd like to do to this piece, because it's far from finished. I still need to work on the lips and bring out some details there as well as put in more detail on the tongue and chin areas. I'd also like to make the metal a look a bit more metallic than it is.
Here we have my first real project of Drawing II, the fabric drawing. We were to take a piece of cloth which our instructor provided and think of different things that fold. In the end I decided on water. I hadn't worked on this for a while up until mid-terms. I honestly procrastinated hard to finish this and worked from 7pm-12am the night before mid-terms to complete this piece (from start to finish). Needless to say it was hard to do but I did what I had to do. Surprisingly I ended up with a B on this assignment, which I'm happy with in all honesty. If anything this was my least favorite assignment of the semester.
Well this was supposed to be my 2D design mid-term, but because I was one of only 2 in the class to put as much detail into our pieces, I was given extra time. Eventually more assignments piled up and before I knew it I wasn't able to finish it before finals; she still gave me full credit for it nevertheless.
In this project we were to take two separate pictures and put them together to help lead the eye around the piece. In taking a smaller image and placing a larger image somewhere within the piece, making that your focal point. We were to accomplish all this without making things appear too busy and crowded. We had no choice in whether or not to paint we didn't have any option in that category although she did give us a choice between monochromatic, picking to pictures opposite the color wheel (example mostly green with touches of red to even things out) and an all black and white version w/ touches of all three primary colors.
Obviously I chose monochromatic using the color blue. Eventually I will go back and finish it when I have time, but until then I'll have to concentrate on my other projects. I'm also a horrible painter so this took me far more time that I wanted it to, about four 3 hour class periods worth.
This was I believe our first 2D design assignment in which we had to take an already existing picture and focus in on a specific part of said picture to the point of not being able to recognized it anymore. In all honesty I have completely forget what the original picture was called or who made it because it's been at least 4-5 months sense I had to work on it, that and the fact that our instructor gave had already printed out the pictures and we had to chose from her selection. I know it's not excuse for not knowing my history but at least I'm being honest. All and all this took me about an hour to do.
So far this has taken me approximately 5 hrs 45 minutes (roughly) from Sunday night to today. My family are huge Obama supporters and I figured I'd do an Barack Obama piece for them, but that's not the reason I'm doing this right now. I had one more Face drawing to do (3/4 view, profile, and front) so I figured what the hell I may as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
It's only about 50%-60% finished.
The Materials/Techniques I'm using are:
H for the outlines
HB for the lightest shades
B & 2B for the med tones
3B for the darker areas
8B for the darkest places (pupils, opening of the mouth, nostrils, eye brows, etc.)
-I've gone back into several places with my eraser to bring out highlights, which aren't finished and will be adjusted.-The entire piece has also been wiped down with a tissue piece as to smooth out the shading.
I won't be getting this back until after Mid-Terms.
Here it is finally finished after several days of working on this.
I had meant to have it finished a lot earlier but school was more important so I had to take about a week off.
The last part were the bracelets which looking weren't as hard as I figured they'd be.
I went back and touched up the darkest places with an 8B pencil, highlighted a little bit more with it in some lighter areas to give the appearance of more depth. I also went back and highlighted with my eraser in areas that needed a few lighter tones.
This in all took me about 20 hours to complete over the span of 7 days in total.
All and all I'd say it turned out better than i expected.
Pretty much the same as the pic above only photoshopped the eyes by overlaying them in red as to make them stand out more.
Just a quick W.I.P shot of one of several pics I'm working on. There are several mistakes here and there that I'll fix up as i go on to complete this piece. I think I made his body too wide near the chest area and his chin should be a tad bit longer. His eyes also look a tad bit too animeish. I've got to be honest though, I probably am not going to finish this ever. Who knows really....
The final project of my Drawing I class.
The objective was to take something and put an object into that picture. The "something" being Criss Angel and the object(s) of the playing cards.
This whole thing took me 23 hours over the span of 2 days, needless to say i regret it a little bit because in hindsight i could have done much better.
As you can see there are some mistakes with the chest area and the arms, but don't be surprised if I end up redoing this later on.
A little self-portrait I worked on last year for my Drawing I class. This was worked on for about 3 hours 2 days a week for an average of 3 to 4 weeks. There are some problems but nothing major.
This ladies and gentlemen is the entity known as the Exiled. They are an organization I and almost 15 other people have been working on since late 2005.
Character's drawn by two good friends of mine. I did a little photoshoping to clean up some of the lines and put this picture together. Each was done individually so yeah this is our official poster. The character's themselves belong to all of us involved, although not everyone is depicted here. It will not be colored as I am to understand.
Any who! The Alliance & the Traitors, winner take all.....
From left to right: Xowlin, Xenge, Jynx, Ruxel, Lexinoth, Kaarix, DrBanxon, Xana, Xodyc, Rextanse, Zhymarx, Xalatine, Zixan, Delacroix, Ojex, Sabixel, Xatsuin, Charaxi, Roxegeg, Lonex, Zaverxi, Salix, Myromex, Daxic, Xishin, Jixah, Toxit, Lenxzoub, Darthex, Axit, Caxboj and last but not least the leader & founder of the Exiled Zaxeldion (the only one that's colored)
A really old piece. This is a project i started to do for my college entry. However i ended up switching paths from graphic design to fine arts. So i basically did this pic for nothing, which would also explain why it's not finished. I wanted to go for the detailed look, but make some areas look unfinished and only outlined. That way it brings out more focal points in the piece, so the eye tends to wonder more i guess you could say.
I got pretty lazy with this one and kept going back and worth on it for about 4 months maybe longer, I can't remember exactly seeing as it's been more than a year.
